The spice Whole Anise is a dried, light brown, oval-shaped seed of a plant from the Carrot family. It is a must for Italian sausage with a mild licorice flavor. Also available in ground form. It is a spice imported from Asia and Greece where the seeds are generally removed from the plant and allowed to dry.
Uses: Include cakes, breads, sweets, spaghetti sauce, Italian sausage, creams and liqueurs.
